I am Dominika Somló-Horváth, certified psychologist, sports psychology specialist and family therapist in training. I obtained my psychology degree at ELTE PPK in 2020, majoring in counseling and school psychology. After graduation, I started working as a school psychologist. Currently, I am a school psychologist at a district high school in the 16th district of Budapest. In the summer of 2023, I graduated as a specialist psychologist in sports psychology at the joint training of the Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Science and ELTE. In addition, since 2020, I have been training as a couple and family therapist at the Hungarian Family Therapy Association. During my work, I consider it important to create a trusting atmosphere, to be person-centered, and I approach my clients with acceptance and empathy. I strive to be able to support my clients as best as possible in solving their problems and difficulties in the best way for them.
I myself did competitive sports for many years and tried both individual and team sports. I have experienced that in many cases psychological and spiritual support may also be necessary in order to get the most out of ourselves. I want to help the athletes who come to me – whether they are juniors or adults – in this.
How can I help the athletes?
• setting appropriate goals
• stress management, reduction of performance anxiety
• development of self-confidence
• development of attention concentration
• emotion regulation, treatment of emotional problems
• management of motivational problems
• error correction, mental training (“training in the mind”)
• support for post-injury rehabilitation
• burnout
• development of self-awareness
• development of social and communication skills
• management of lifestyle, personal, family or relationship problems
